BHEL commissions Karnataka's largest solar power plant


Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has announced on Wednesday that it has successfully commissioned a 5 MW eco-friendly grid-connected solar power plant in Karnataka. Notably, this is the single largest solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Karnataka.

Located at Shivanasamudram near Mandya in Karnataka, the plant has been set up by BHEL (Q,N,C,F)* for Karnataka Power Corporation (KPCL).


For the Shivanasamudram project, BHEL`s scope of work included design, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of the solar power plant. In addition, BHEL will also operate and maintain the solar power plant for a period of 3 years.

Shares of the company declined Rs 1.45, or 0.67%, to trade at Rs 216.25. The total volume of shares traded was 362,222 at the BSE (3.59 p.m., Wednesday).
