DOHA, Qatar, Aug 1 (Bernama) -- Qatar Charity on Tuesday launched a relief campaign for the Muslims of Myanmar under the slogan "Burma.. Till pain goes away", Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

CEO of Qatar Charity Yousef Ahmed Al Kuwari, said that the campaign aims to provide emergency relief and humanitarian aid to Rohingya Muslims, focusing on providing shelter, food and health services.

A delegation from the Qatar Charity and representatives of other Qatari associations visited the Bangladesh-Myanmarese border to assess the needs of Rohingya Muslims in refugee camps, and the main challenges and obstacles that face provision of humanitarian aid to the refugees there.

Al-Kuwari urged philanthropists to donate through Qatar Islamic Bank and through SMS or to deliver their donations to Qatar Charity main office and its branches in the country.

The campaign comes in conjunction with other similar campaign launched by the Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah for Humanitarian Services (RAF) for helping the displaced as a result of the bloody events suffered by Muslims in the state of Arakan in Myanmar.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of RAF, Ayed Bin Dabssan Al-Qahtani, said that RAF began to receive donations, which reached so far to QR1.2 million. (RM1=QR1.17)

He added that RAF will begin next week the one-month long first phase of its relief campaign for the Rohingya Muslims including provision of relief aid, while there will be subsequent phases that will last for more than six months.
